With the emergence of various social media platforms, marketing has taken a new turn. The present generation has nothing against going online and resolving their health issues online. So the big question is – how does social media do it?

More and more patients are taking to the internet to find health related information. Since it is easy to connect with anyone around the world, doctors and patients alike are extensively using this medium to share experiences and educate and support others. Patients agree that they rely on the information shared through various social media channels to deal with their health issues and recommend it to friends and family.

Today’s youth is keen to take to social media to discuss a health issue than the older lot. Although it is tough to engage this group, making the right move will help garner long time participation from this segment.  According to a survey, the young generation are also open to trusting any medical information shared by others on their social media networks.

In fact, to make an impactful presence on social media, various healthcare organizations have particular social media writing guidelines. More and more people are aware of health apps that are on their phone and almost many people today have at least one health app on their smart phone. Patients are also comfortable in connecting with online forums to seek support and share medical experiences with others. Healthcare professionals are actively making their presence felt on social media. This has enabled patients to decide their choice of hospitals, treatment and doctor. With almost any medial question being resolved online, patients can seek medical attention from the comfort of their homes or in remote areas. It has helped to improve the quality of care affecting the lives of millions. Patients find it easy to connect with any specialist without the hassle of travelling or waiting for hours. With the rise in online healthcare providers, seeking medical help is easy and affordable.
